Maintenance of wooden flooring
1. Place a walk-off mat at all exterior entrances to trap dirt and debris before it reaches the wooden floor, helping prevent scratches.
2. Use floor protector pads or soft felt on the bottom of furniture legs to avoid damage to the floor surface.
3. Be mindful that cleats, sports shoes, and high heels can cause dents in the flooring.
4. Clean up food and other spills immediately with a dry or slightly damp cloth or towel to prevent stains.
5. Since laminated floors are not termite-proof like other woods, it is advisable to schedule annual pest control services from a reliable pest management company.
6. Avoid using oil soap, wax products, or household cleaners containing lemon oil, tuning oil, or ammonia, as they can damage the floor.
7. Refrain from using a wet mop that is overly saturated. Excess moisture can cause the floor to swell, dull the surface, and leave a residue. Use a vacuum or broom for daily cleaning, and if using a wet mop, ensure it's well wrung and only damp (not dripping wet).
8. When cleaning floors with a textured surface, always follow the direction of the grains to ensure a smooth and effective cleaning process.
9. Do not use adhesive or silicone at the bottom of the skirting, as it interferes with the natural expansion and contraction movement of the laminate flooring.
